Card with predictions

Tonight, live from Phoenix, AZ, the 32nd installment of the Royal Rumble will be held. Here, I list the card that we know and I give my predictions for who will come out victorious in each match-up.

Raw Women’s Championship Match – Ronda Rousey (c) v. Sasha Banks

For this one, I’m predicting that Ronda will retain. Although she’s been a good champion, I’d like to see her drop the belt for no other reason than I like to see belts change hands. In either case, expect to see the loser enter the Women’s Royal Rumble match.

Smackdown Women’s Championship Match – Asuka (c) v. Becky Lynch

Asuka has not been champion long, so I definitely see her retaining tonight. Expect a 5-star match from both of these competitors with the loser following suit and entering the Women’s Royal Rumble, depending of course on where it falls in the card.

Smackdown Tag Team Championship – The Bar (c) v. Shane and The Miz

To keep the spirit of this new team alive, I predict that Shane and The Miz will become your new Tag Team Champions tonight. However, since the feud with Daniel Bryan sort of fizzled and never really closed, I’d love to see the “new” Daniel Bryan interfere in some way, costing The Miz the titles.

United States Championship – Rusev (c.) v. Shinsuke Nakamura

Here’s one where the ball has been dropped. Not only are these two going to be featured on the kick-off show, the feud between them has been lacking in substance and coverage as of late. For this one, I believe Rusev will retain.

Crusierweight Championship Match – Fatal 4-way- Buddy Murphy (c) v. Kalisto v. Akira Tozawa v. Hideo Itami

As you know, I am not as familiar with the Cruiserweight picture, so my blind prediction is that Buddy Murphy will retain.

WWE Universal Championship Match – Brock Lesnar (c) v. Finn Balor

I will watch this one with the hopes of being pleasantly surprised. As I’ve said, I do not know what kind of offense Finn Balor will be able to get on Brock Lesnar if the goal is to eventually get him to face Braun Strowman and he was able to beat Braun so handedly in their first two bouts. So I’ll be watching with a hopeful and open mind, but I still see Brock retaining after this one.

WWE Heavyweight Championship Match – Daniel Bryan (c) v. AJ Styles

I feel like they’re really starting to build something here. No, I’m not a fan of the angle that Daniel Bryan is pushing as a heel (“planet’s champion?”), but I think Mr. McMahon intervening with both of these men is adding a level of complexity that has not reached its full potential yet. In the spirit of that, I think Daniel Bryan will retain his championship tonight.

Women’s Royal Rumble Match – 30 Entrants

In no particular order, the following women are confirmed as entrants in the match:

  • Natalya
  • Bayley
  • Ember Moon
  • Lacey Evans
  • Alexa Bliss
  • Ruby Riott
  • Sarah Logan
  • Liv Morgan
  • Mickie James
  • Alicia Fox
  • Mandy Rose
  • Sonya Deville
  • Zelina Vega
  • Charlotte Flair
  • Naomi
  • Tamina
  • Peyton Royce
  • Billie Kay
  • Dana Brooke
  • Lana
  • Nia Jax
  • Nikki Cross
  • Carmella (confirmed for the No. 30 spot)

Winner: Becky Lynch, entering the match after losing to Asuka.

Men’s Royal Rumble Match – 30 Entrants

Similarly, in no particular order:

  • John Cena
  • Dean Ambrose
  • Seth Rollins
  • Samoa Joe
  • Drew McIntyre
  • Kofi Kingston
  • Big E
  • Xavier Woods
  • Apollo Crews
  • Baron Corbin
  • Elias
  • Jinder Mahal
  • Jeff Hardy
  • Bobby Lashley
  • Andrade
  • Rey Mysterio
  • Mustafa Ali
  • Randy Orton
  • R-Truth (confirmed for the No. 30 spot)

Winner: I’m torn between Seth Rollins and Samoa Joe of confirmed entrants. There is the likelihood that Braun will also enter the match, but since he was removed from the title picture, I don’t see the end game in having him win the Royal Rumble so quickly after the opportunity was taken from him.

WrewIn less than 10 hours, we will have the answers to all of these questions. My friends, the road to WrestleMania is being paved. The Royal Rumble is our starting line. I can’t wait to see what happens!
