We kick off this week by welcoming Kurt Angle to loving chants of, “you suck!”. Kurt takes the mic and explains that he has had to swallow his pride a lot since coming back as Raw GM. Kurt calls out Triple H for sucker-punching him. He demands that Triple H come out and face him as a man. Stephanie’s music drops. Stephanie is met with lots of boos as she reports that Triple H is not at Raw yet. Stephanie reminds Kurt that this job, and not anything else he does or has done, pays the bills. Next, Ronda Rousey enters. Ronda points out that, according to her contract, she gets to pick her WrestleMania opponent, and Stephanie points out the two stipulations: as long as they are not a champion and are on the active roster. Drum roll, uh, oh, it’s over, she said it…YOU! Woah, woah, can’t happen, Triple H is here! And he will not allow Ronda to choose Stephanie. Kurt, as GM, makes the matches. And Stephanie does have an active roster contract. But then, Kurt goes above that, making the match a mixed tag match between Triple H and Stephanie McMahon taking on Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey. Stephanie goes to smack Kurt Angle, and Rousey blocks the slap and stares down Stephanie. Next, Kurt and Triple H start grappling, and Stephanie runs in to push Rousey. The fighting continues back and forth, and then Rousey pulls Steph back in by her hair and gives her a “Rousey drop”. Not sure what they’ll call that, but the move looked good. Definitely room for improvement, but a great start for Rousey. Okay, that was a long sequence. Will try to keep the rest a little shorter.
Next, Nia Jax with face Asuka. The power of Nia puts Asuka up into a spinning, windwill, I don’t know, kind of move, and then drops Asuka right on her face. But Asuka able to hold that arm for so long! Finally, Nia taps out to Asuka, extended her win streak. The question remains, who will Asuka face at WrestleMania?
Tag Team Action – tonight, The Bar faces The Revival. If The Revival wins, they win an opportunity to face The Bar at WrestleMania for the tag team titles. Sheamus and Cesaro come out on top. Who will face The Bar at WrestleMania now?
When we return from break, John Cena comes inform us of his WrestleMania plan: prediction or promise to become a 17 time WWE World Champion and expecting AJ Styles to invoke his rematch and make it a Triple Threat match at WrestleMania. Enter Goldust with thoughts of wanting to be John Cena’s manager. Goldust hooks John Cena with a right hand, and we go to break. The match now official, John and Goldust continue to fight. Cena defeats Goldust, even after Goldust gets a low blow in.
Elias…and Strowman are going to be in a Symphony of Destruction, falls count anywhere match.
We then find out the latest inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2018 – Hillbilly Jim.
Bayley faces Mandy Rose. Bayley attempts to address her relationship with Sasha Banks, but Paige cuts her off with some harsh words. Bayley gets the win, but then Absolution jumps in and starts beating Bayley up. Sasha Banks enters to help Bayley out, and Sasha wants to bury the hatchet, but Bayley does not oblige, and walks out.
This month, WWE celebrates women, and this week’s spotlight is on Eunice Kennedy Shriver.
Backstage, Alexa comforts Nia with some scathing but heartfelt words. Nia puts on a great performance with real tears as the camera cuts.
For the Symphony of Destruction match, Elias starts out at a piano. Then moves to drums, and then to his guitar. Elias ties to escape prior to the match, but Strowman finds him in the parking lot and stops the car. They re-enter the arena, and in the end, Strowman finishes off Elias by dropping a piano on him.
WWE announces it will be holding a Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia.
Bray Wyatt takes on Rhyno this week. Bray Wyatt wins fairly quickly, and then calls out Matt Hardy. Matt gives Bray the info, the stage is set for battle at The Hardy Compound. Don’t tell Randy Orton, might end up burned down.
Yes, the 3rd Annual Mizzies. Hard to believe its been 3 years already. Of course, no one does it like The Miz. Tough to be such a loved heel.
First award, the superstar who is the best at patting themselves on the back
- Seth Rollins (bragging about lasting 65 minutes in a match he lost)
- Kurt Angle (for finally being a good father after 29 years to Jason Jordan)
- Finn Balor (for being the first Universal Champion and holding it the shortest amount of time)
And The Mizzie goes to – Seth Rollins and Finn Balor in a tie!
Second, worst decision by a Raw GM – winner, Kurt Angle.
Seth Rollins enters just as Miz is about to announce the Lifetime Achievement Mizzie. Seth then gets cut off by Finn Balor. The Miz challenges them both to a handicap match. Seth Rollins taps himself in off Finn Balor who was setup for the Coup de Gras, and takes the win with a stomp to The Miz. After the win, Kurt Angle enters and sets up a match for WrestleMania for The Miz. Another Triple Threat match between The Miz, Finn Balor, and Seth Rollins.
After the 35 seconds heard round the world, Paul Heyman enters, Universal Title in hand, to address the rumors swirling around the UFC. Paul is such a professional. And similar to Roman, he cut a great promo on behalf of his client. Stating that Brock will defend the title when he wants and where he wants. And one day, Paul Heyman may be laying the Universal Title next to his UFC World Title. After a few more words, Roman enters and tells Paul that next week in Detroit, Roman wants his face-to-face with Brock. Paul exits, seemingly scared, and we are ready for next week.
