The Recap
WrestleMania 35 has come and gone. We now have Becky as the combined Women’s Champion after a very successful first-ever women’s WrestleMania main event. It was cold, it was long, but it was successful. We had seven title changes in the night. Our only retaining champions were Samoa Joe and The Usos. And after Smackdown Live this week, we no longer have The Usos as champions we now have the Hardy Boyz. That was a very fitting end considering they were originally booked to be in the four-way tag match at WrestleMania but then were moved to the Andre the Giant Battle Royal and replaced by Ricochet and Aleister Black.
Other Winners
Kofi reached the pinnacle to boisterous fanfare and fireworks. Brock and Seth opened the main card with a very exciting, though fairly one-sided match. The IIconics have become Women’s Tag Team Champions and were met with a huge pop. All in all, the card was good, the matches were exciting, and the endings were appropriate.
Best Entrance
After going back and re-watching the show at home (just to see what might have been missed when we were at MetLife), I think Charlotte had the best entrance of the night. I would’ve expected it to be Triple H considering his entrance at WM 32 was one of the best I’ve ever seen. But, harkening back to one of Ric Flair’s famous entrances, Charlotte coming in on the helicopter was amazing.
The not so good
The spectacle of the surroundings was pretty good, but I did think previous WrestleMania sets were done better. Camping World had the roller coaster over the stage area and the large tenting over the ring and AT&T had the large starburst of light bars coming out from the stage area. This stage was good but did not have a large image of the logo as we are used to seeing in more recent years. Aside from the large video screen at the end of the stage, there was not large spectacle or great interesting piece of the staging area. To me, the stage was lacking. Other than that, I have no complaints.
This was a great WrestleMania season and I am so excited to move forward with the new champions we have and set the stage for 36!
