Soon after his firing from WWE on Tuesday, Kevin Owens has begun referring to himself as his former ring name, Kevin Steen. On Twitter, he changed his handle, he has been removed from the list of active roster members of WWE’s website, and he and Sami Zayn are officially off the card for WrestleMania. Following the same tune, Sami Zayn has removed any affiliation with WWE from his twitter. And I will just say, well done. I love getting immersed in these kinds of storylines. The ones that go for months and months, hopefully culminating in an epic match. Carrying it through in an era when information comes as quickly as we can type it into the search bar really makes the difference in what we expect from WWE and what Smackdown has been superior at providing these past few months. And the best part? We don’t have a clear path of where the story will go from here.
Shane is out. Daniel is back, but his involvement may be limited. So where does the story go? Do Kevin and Sami show up at Super Card of Honor? Last year, we saw the Hardy Boyz at Ring of Honor on Saturday and then the next night, they were going for the Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania. Will they show up at WrestleMania as Shane and Daniel are making an announcement, and beat them up again? No suspicion is too far-fetched because we just don’t know…yet.
