After all the events of the past few days, I wanted to post some thoughts about what has come and what may come.

First, Funaki is #1.  I think he is more over than Baron Corbin.  If he knows English, I think he’d be an amazing recruit to be an interpreter for Asuka or Shinsuke.

The women’s revolution – a hot topic, especially during International Women’s month.  As much as people like to talk about the course of women wrestlers working their way through the ranks and changing the face of the women’s division and wrestling in general, I’d like to throw out hopefully a not so novel idea and say that the face of fans have changed and that has truly been the revolution of women.  Fans of the past wanted bra and panties matches and “the shock value” of what TV could be.  But, fans wants have changed.  WWE fans are much younger than they have ever been, and the need to make the programming more family friendly has introduced a new kind of fan to the product.  This fan likes seeing competitive women’s wrestling, with just a hint of sex appeal.  I also miss the title of “Diva”.  I don’t look at it as degrading or belittling to the female superstar.  I see it as empowering.  Divas are strong, charismatic, independent, and usually, the star of the show.  To me, it’s not an outdated term, it’s a description of what these women are.  So yes, women in wrestling have definitely paved the way, but let’s not forget that without the fans, they might not even exist.

Let’s discuss Ms. MITB.

I really like Carmella.  I don’t think we have many true heels like her, and I think her fighting style is very entertaining.  But, she is largely missing from storylines right now, aside from tag teams with Natalya. What we may be questioning from Carmella as we move forward to WrestleMania is will she cash in or will she hold for Summer Slam.

Roman Reigns.  After his promo on Raw a few weeks back, I think I can firmly say, I was becoming a much bigger Roman fan.  I was concerned, as I’m sure we all were, that they were going to move forward with the first good push in months only to let it wither away.   I was very happy to see the inclusion of Mr. McMahon on Monday and finally putting Roman’s anger in the right place.  It is not Brock’s fault that he has the contract he has,  it’s Mr. McMahon’s, and it was nice to see that inclusion.  From discussion I’ve heard about Roman, people question why he is still booed after all the positive strides they’ve made in story.  In short, I don’t think it is because people hate Roman.  I think it’s because it is our way of saying, “hey, it’s you, and you have a thing.”  For example, when Kurt Angle comes out, we chant, “you suck!”  When John Cena comes out, he gets a bellowing, “John Cena sucks!”  So, because it is a “boo,” it cannot be regarded in the same manner?  I will say, I am becoming a Roman fan, yet when his music drops, I let out my loudest and proudest, “BOO!”  It’s part of his music.  It’s just what people are going to do, and I don’t think it has to be perceived as dislike.

Now, moving forward to discuss what they’ve been building up for so long between Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Shane McMahon, and Daniel Bryan.  There has been speculation by some that Shane will face Sami and Kevin at WrestleMania or that it will become a three-way match (great, another).  But where does that leave Daniel Bryan?  Special guest referee?  My theories, or alternate storylines if you will, are, 1. A handicap match with Daniel Bryan against Sami and Kevin, Daniel acting as The Authority for Shane after Shane stepped down as commissioner.  Though Daniel has not been overall happy with Shane’s running and though he would probably have expressed his disappointment in him interfering in the match at Fastlane, after the beat down that Shane received on Tuesday, Daniel may take a different perspective on letting Sami and Kevin treat their boss in such a way.  Plus, I think Daniel entering as The Authority would be a crazy good swerve.  2. A little bit different, but if we like the idea of Sami and Kevin facing Shane, there is also consideration that it could become a tag-team match.  But who would be Shane’s partner?  Could it be Daniel Bryan?  Maybe, but I think an even better opponent would be someone we haven’t seen in a while.  Someone who has an even bigger beef with KO than Shane.  And that person is: Chris Jericho.  The last time we saw Jericho, he was being decimated in the Festival of Friendship and then lost the United States Championship to Owens before making his departure.  Talk about someone who never really got to give Kevin what he had coming to him.  I’m just saying, I know it’s all speculation, but please WWE, read this and call Chris Jericho.  We need him back!
