My brother-in-law has been an avid wrestling fan much longer than I. For this unprecedented Wrestlemania event, he decided to share his predictions. I will share whether I agree or not.
WWE Championship – Brock (C) vs Drew McIntyre. McIntyre becomes new champ.
- Agreed, 100% agreed. The only thing I hate is that due to the status of the world, Drew doesn’t get the crowd he deserves to see this moment in person, but we’ll be cheering from home.
Universal Championship – Goldberg (C) vs Braun Strowman. Braun wins and this causes Goldberg to step away again for a while.
- Disagree. WWE wanted Goldberg/Reigns. They’ll hold out for that match and keep the belt on Goldberg.
Edge vs Randy Orton (Last Man Standing): this one is a hard toss up for me. With Edge making his surprise anticipated return at the Royal Rumble, I could see Edge winning with the crowd and hype surrounding him. However it’s hard to go against the Viper. I want to say Edge but I think Randy will come away with the stolen victory and setup for a battle at the next PPV.
- Agree. Randy Orton will win as the veteran guy, sending Edge home again.
Cena vs The Fiend (Firefly Funhouse Match): Cena hasn’t won a WM match in years. His time to win at WM is due. But with him not wrestling much anymore, I think the Fiend will win as Cena will want to put the new/existing talent over.
- Agreed, The Fiend will take this one, especially after his disappointing losses as of late.
Raw Women’s Championship – Becky Lynch (C) vs Shayna Baszler: I believe the Queen of Spades comes in strong and makes a statement of winning the title and puts the raw women’s division on lockdown (especially with Flair now fighting at NXT as it appears).
- Toss up, but could agree. Not sure what an NXT person winning the RAW Women’s Championship will mean and I hope Lynch retains.
- Results: Becky Lynch retains.
NXT Women’s Championship – Rhea Ripley (C) vs Charlotte Flair: I think this match will be the better of the three women’s championship matches. Rhea becoming the new badass character and his first WM match. This will be a tough one in that respect. Flair having WM success already, she knows the stage well. I’m pulling for Ripley but I could see Charlotte stealing the show and belt, therefore moving over to NXT full time for a while. Rhea will get her rematch eventually and win it back but with some sort of (cheat) help.
- Agreed, Charlotte wins this one.
Smackdown Women’s Championship – Bayley (C) vs Lacey Evans vs Tamina vs Naomi vs Sasha Banks (Elimination Match): I think Bayley will lose the title tonight. Bayley and the Boss will be the final 3 remaining. As to the other remaining, I am thinking Tamina will try and make a statement. With her being one of the veterans in the business and not a ton of success, I think she will be the 3rd left. As for Bailey, Boss, and Tamina, I’m not sure who I want to win. But I do think Bayley walks away with the loss. Perhaps The Boss wins the title but cheats her way to the victory.
- Agreed, and I don’t think it will be to spite her best friend. I think Sasha will win when she and Tamina remain to avenge her BFF, Bayley.
The Undertaker vs AJ Styles (Boneyard Match): Taker has sadly lost a few at WM. But tonight, he is appearing in rare form as the American Bad Ass. Taker comes away with the victory but with his future still unknown.
- Agreed. As I’ve said before, I ready for an Undertaker protégé.
Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins: Seth has always been successful at WM, if memory serves me correct. Tonight, KO comes away with the victory.
- Agreed. KO-mania all the way!
Intercontinental Championship – Sami Zayn (C) vs Daniel Bryan: Sami retains his title.
- Disagree. Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak co-op are much more interesting to me than the Artists collective. I’m ready for DB to have another title.
Raw Tag Team Championship – The Street Profits (C) vs Austin Theory & Angel Garza: Street Profits lose their titles.
- Agreed.
Smackdown Tag Team Championship – The Miz & John Morrison (C) vs. The New Day vs The Usos (Ladder Match): So now we know that this ladder match will continue, but will be a 1-on-1-on-1 match with one representative from each team going for the title. I’ve got the Usos in this one.
- Agreed. The Usos are getting to another level and I’m ready for them to take the titles again.
Women’s Tag Team Championship – The Kabuki Warriors (C) vs Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. I think Bliss and Cross are an odd tag team even if they are working well together. However I think Kabuki Warriors retain the belts. This will cause Alexa to turn on Nikki for costing them the victory with belts. We’ve seen this before with Alexa and Big Mamma Nia Jax. Eventually there will be a fight between Alexa and Nikki, and Nikki will prove she is good and does not need Alexa as a partner/mentor.
- Disagree: Nikke and Alexa take the titles.
- Results: Alexa and Nikki win the tag-team titles.
Elias vs King Corbin – I could see this one going either way. Corbin will try and cheat the victory but in his attempt, Elias will stop him and walk away with the victory. Everyone will be walking with Elias tonight, including me.
- Agreed. I got to walk with Elias in New Orleans two years ago and I want him back at that level.
- Results: Elias wins.
Otis vs Dolph Ziggler – Personally I’m really looking forward to this match. I enjoy watching both of them fight. Now that we know who the real culprit is behind the Valentine’s Day screw up when Otis was supposed to meet Mandy for dinner, this def helps build the story and made it more interesting. Sonya will come down ring side with Dolph and stay in his corner. Mandy will make her way down at some point to watch and feel bad for both of them. But I think Otis will come away with the win. He will put his anger behind him and walk away with the victory carrying Mandy in his arms. Dolph will be shown in the ring with Sonya Deville.
- Agreed, and agreed. Most anticipated match of the cards. I can’t wait to see Otis put Dolph in his place and walk away with his lovely flower, Mandy.
Aleister Black vs Bobby Lashley – Black will win the match as Bobby will want to put him over the top for future success.
- Agreed, but thinking that Lashley could win this. He’s been quiet for a little while and with Lana at ring-side, we could get some interference that would open up a longer feud for these two.
