For Part 2 of the Survivor Series posts, I wanted to quickly address the last 48 hours of WWE.

With just 6 days to go before what is arguably the 4th most anticipated pay-per-view of the year, WWE throws us not just one, but two HUGE curve balls.  Behind WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and The Royal Rumble, Survivor Series is the next most highly anticipated event.  But in just 2 short hours, WWE made it must-watch TV.

Ronda Rousey v. Charlotte Flair?

Let’s start with what happened with the Becky Lynch story.  Becky Lynch has held the Smackdown Women’s championship since Hell in a Cell and has put herself so far over, despite very heel tendencies.  Becky has been outstanding on the mic, and in a matter of only a few short weeks, has built the match between her and Ronda Rousey into the most anticipated event for Survivor Series 2018.  On Monday night during an invasion of Raw by the Smackdown women’s locker room, Becky Lynch got punched right in the face by Nia Jax.  Here is better angle of the hit than what you were able to see on TV.

So, just like that, Becky is out with a “broken face” and chooses Charlotte to replace her in the match against Ronda Rousey.  It was a big move for the champ, especially when it seemed that for a moment, she would choose Asuka to replace her.  But part of me questions whether or not its a trap.

Does anyone anticipate possible interference in the match by Becky on Sunday?  It has crossed my mind, but I also think Becky has to prove nothing.  She is already better than both Charlotte and Ronda.  She beat Charlotte in a last-woman standing match at Evolution, so nothing to prove there.  So what’s the angle if this is a swerve?  Do they want to hold onto the Becky-Ronda match a little longer?  Hard to say.

No matter what, all eyes will be glued to the screen Sunday to see what outcome we get with Charlotte there now.

Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles

Similar to the change we got with Becky’s match, we also got a change when it comes to the WWE Champion.  AJ Styles, who has held the championship for 500+ days, was dethroned on Tuesday by Daniel Bryan!  And if that wasn’t shocking enough, it was with a Daniel Bryan heel turn.  And a low-blow of all things.  So your match for Sunday is now set between Daniel Bryan and Brock Lesnar.  If you didn’t get to see any of it, let me paint you a word picture.

Tuesday night starts with AJ Styles coming to the ring, likely to address the match with Brock Lesnar set for Sunday.  All of a sudden, we hear the familiar sound of Paul Heyman arguing with the ring announcer to give him a microphone.  Paul spins a speech about great champions that, although good, was hard to follow at times.  He finally finishes by mentioning Daniel Bryan.  And he doesn’t just mention him, he points out that he is an “almost” champion.  What kind of pot are we stirring here, Paul?

Daniel Bryan has heard his name one too many times, so he comes out to address it.  But, he doesn’t point his questions toward Paul, he points them towards AJ.  After some back-and-forth, Daniel attacks AJ, and the two brawl.  As the fight continues, Shane runs out with referees to break-up the fight.  The end comes when the two will not stop going for each other, even backstage.  Shane finally declares that AJ will face Daniel tonight with the belt on the line!

What???

No, you read that correctly, and that’s exactly what happened.  Tuesday night, main event, Daniel Bryan versus AJ Styles for the WWE Championship.  Not surprisingly, it was a great match.  But in the end, Daniel Bryan hits AJ with a low-blow when the ref is distracted and gets the pin on AJ.  So here we have it again, are we anticipating possible interference on the part of AJ Styles?  What do we think of Daniel Bryan turning heel?

I personally love the heel turn.  And I love the interference of Paul Heyman to set the match.  But man, just when I think I can get away with watching things a day later on my DVR, they go and pull this!

As always, share, comment, and watch!
