To end my first week of posting and kick off how I’ll move forward, I wanted to discuss a recent idea known as the “cool factor” in wrestling today and then a second thing was what could be considered “alternate story lines”. So, let’s get started.
The Cool Factor
The idea of a “cool factor” was being discussed again by Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray (@BustedOpenRadio). So, I was thinking of it myself. If we compare the superstars and the content of today’s pro wrestling, what could we say is “cool” about it. Some would say that bringing in Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles are to improve the cool factor for the “smart” wrestling fan. And, I would agree with that.
But I also think that to me, the women’s division is making the WWE very cool these days. We may never have anything remotely close to the cool of the Attitude Era, or groups like NWO or D-Generation X, but the interest that is being given to the women’s division, as well as the new matches they are starting for the women’s division is adding a level of cool for a new generation of fans.
Alternate Story Lines
Now, let’s bring up some alternate story lines or things that we’d like to see or speculate to see. For me, as I’ve discussed in a previous post, I think the idea of having Bray Wyatt challenge Braun Strowman for a championship or just in a good ol’ fashioned feud would be a very natural progression of things.
My theories of how it could happen include Braun Strowman at some point getting the Universal Championship, which I thought was going to be when he faced Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, but may now occur if Roman Reigns becomes champion and Braun then challenges him. From there, I’d like to see Bray Wyatt either challenge Braun for the championship or, and this would be a very interesting twist, Bray could enter the ring and Braun could meet him in a very brotherly way, making it seem as if the Wyatt Family was behind Braun’s rise to the top.
Though, I’m sure, some fans would not like that story line at all, but I just think more of a clear-cut end or continuation of the Wyatt Family needs to exist. The brand split cannot be the reason they ended and just be done with it. Also, where could Randy Orton fit in? After all, he burned down Bray Wyatt’s house, and we still haven’t seen any real repercussion of that.
It will be interesting to see where both of these superstars head moving forward, especially as Braun Strowman does not have a clear opponent at WrestleMania.
