The number 2 slot of the greatest wrestlers of all time is taken by none other than the self-proclaimed GOAT, Chris Jericho. I would love to be a “Jerichoholic” and also find someway to be added to the list. That said, there are not many wrestlers who can carry a match or set up a story quite like Chris Jericho.
What makes him so great?
Chris Jericho has many credits to his name. He is not just a larger than life wrestler that has held championships all over the world. Chris is also the lead singer of Fozzy. He has also competed on Dancing with the Stars. He had also hosted TV shows! Actually, that was when I first became acquainted with Chris Jericho. Jericho was hosting WWE’s Tough Enough, and that was my first exposure to him. Since then, he has been in a number of feuds in the WWE and has most recently been wrestling with New Japan. But don’t just get caught up on the fact that his wrestling skills are second to few. If Ric Flair is the best seller of a move, Chris Jericho is the best seller of a feud.
But is he really that good of a story-teller?
Yes, he is. But it’s not just what he says, it who he says it to. Chris Jericho was the first feud that AJ Styles was in when he came into the WWE. His months long friendship and then split with Kevin Owens was one of the most entertaining and eventful setups that I have ever seen. And he wouldn’t have the most Intercontinental Title reigns at a total of 9 (and counting) of any superstar if he couldn’t deliver.
So, in short, the GOAT takes the number 2 slot because of all his accolades and for his ability to return at any point in time. Jericho brings a irreplicable entertainment value to anything he puts his name on. And best of all, his likely return keeps us on the edge of our seats for every Royal Rumble and every other surprise appearance.
