From Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL this Sunday, June 17th, WWE will host Money in the Bank (MiTB).  This pay-per-view is in my top five favorite ones to watch because who doesn’t like a ladder match?  This year, the event will be featuring only its second ever women’s MiTB match after a very successful first run last year.  That, along with the men’s MiTB match will serve as the two co-main events.  And as much as I have been disappointed with the weekly shows for Raw, I think the rest of the card has a lot of potential to propel us into new story lines and new feuds heading towards Summer Slam.  So here it is, my predictions for match winners and losers for this year’s MiTB.

Likely – kickoff show – The Bludgeon Brothers v. Gallows and Anderson for the Smackdown Live Tag Team Titles

  • Winner: The Bludgeon Brothers.  There is no reason these two should not retain.

Daniel Bryan v. Big Cass

  • A feud that has been going on for a while with Cass pointing insults towards Bryan’s height and ability as a wrestler, this match could be a nice ending for the rivalry, propelling Bryan to a more worthy story line and solidifying Cass as a heel. Winner: Daniel Bryan via submission with the yes lock

Nia Jax (champion) v. Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women’s Championship

  • A build-up that has never made much sense to me, this match will feature Ronda in her first-ever live singles match…and it’s for a championship? Rumors (and I hate rumors!) state that Ronda may have a shorter contract than originally thought, meaning that management wants to get as much out of her as they can as soon as they can, but I think that this could be a set-up for her to have the belt with a quick cash-in from her friend Natalya as Raw on Monday night, setting up a natural feud between the two and keeping Rousey in main event/championship talks towards Summer Slam.  Winner: Ronda Rousey with an arm bar submission

Carmella (champion) v. Asuka for the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship

  • Carmella has had very sound logic going towards this match: Charlotte broke Asuka’s streak, and Carmella beat Charlotte to get the championship, therefore, Carmella can beat Asuka. She fails to mention (or maybe forgets) that the Iconics incapacitated Charlotte prior to Carmella’s cash-in, but who needs details?  After Asuka’s amazing match at WrestleMania 34, she has fallen out of the spotlight a bit.  I would love to see her pick up a win with Carmella Sunday, becoming the new Women’s Champion.  Winner: Asuka with the Asuka lock

Roman Reigns v. Jinder Mahal for control of “the yard”

  • Okay, just kidding about “the yard” part, but seriously, what is the problem here? Jinder cost Roman a shot to be in the MiTB match so now they’re feuding?  Big whoop.  Anyone in that situation would have done the same thing, and as much as we think people hate Jinder, he’s a lot harder to dislike when he’s pitted against Roman Reigns.  I’ve said it before, I’m not sure what story line Reigns can be put in to actually peak some interest.  This match will probably be adequate, as both competitors are exciting in the ring…I just hope they don’t cut any promos before.  Winner: Roman Reigns after a series of superman punches and a spear

Bobby Lashley v. Sami Zayn

  • For me, another misunderstood and poorly build feud. I did not see Bobby Lashley when he was part of the WWE a decade ago, and now, I don’t who he is supposed to be.  Maybe the fallout from this feud will help showcase the real Bobby Lashley and put Sami Zayn with a stronger rival to keep his microphone antics going.  Winner: Bobby Lashley after a vertical suplex

Seth Rollins (champion) v. Elias for the Intercontinental Championship

  • Seth Rollins has been able to do no wrong lately on Monday Night As the only “defending” champion who week after week has continuously defended his title, he is the only champion I think of.  And what I’m sure people consider long overdue, Elias is finally getting the push he deserves.  As is typical with Seth Rollins matches as of late, this match may steal the show.  To keep the rivalry going longer and build the story, I think Seth Rollins will retain his championship, but will leave something to keep Elias clamoring for a rematch.  Winner: Seth Rollins with a stomp

AJ Style (champion) v. Shinsuke Nakamura in a Last Man Standing match for the WWE Championship

  • A very close second to Seth Rollins and Elias will be Shinsuke and AJ’s Last Man Standing match. The most well-built and seemingly complete story for this pay-per-view, though possibly a bit too drawn out.  AJ and Shinsuke have been challenging each other for the past few months, both delivering low blow after low blow to each other.  This match, which is the 5th time the two will be facing each other since WrestleMania, will probably prove to be no different.  This situation for two of the most electrifying characters in WWE does beg the question, should the stipulation have been different?  Would it have been a better way to end things to do a Hell in a Cell match or a falls count anywhere, pulling back on their days at New Japan?  But that’s not what were getting.  I suspect this to be an hour match will many “near falls” for the 10-count.  Are we ready for Shinsuke to be champion? Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura after a Kinshasa

Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match – Lana, Natalya, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte, Ember Moon, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks

  • To me, the only logical winner who has a natural feud with someone who has the opportunity to win a title is Natalya. The tension between her and Rousey could build up to the point where the story writes itself.  As much as I would love to see Becky or even Lana win the contract, I don’t think anyone else would need to without the writers having some very steep story lines to write.  Winner: Natalya

Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match – Samoa Joe, Kevin Owens, Braun Strowman, The Miz, Rusev, Bobby Roode, Finn Balor, and one member of The New Day

  • This will be a hard match to call. Sure, I’d love it to be The Miz, but I do think, after his win at The Greatest Royal Rumble, the winner tonight will be Braun Strowman.  Unless every other man gangs up on him, it will be Braun Strowman.  I must very much be in love with Seth Rollins, because in another scenario, I have Elias beating Seth, but later that night, Seth talks to Baron Corbin (constable of Raw) and is able to get Stephanie to add him into the MiTB  Best of both worlds: we get Seth Rollins to try to get the belt from Brock and continue defending night after night, and WWE gets to add more people into the match.  But that’s unlikely.  Winner: Braun Strowman

Tune in Sunday starting at 6pm ET to see how my predictions shake out only on the WWE Network.
