As we head closer to Money in the Bank, let’s sit back, relax, and review what we’ve been seeing on Raw and Smackdown Live.

Let me start by saying that it hasn’t been much for Raw.  I know that story lines are being set and the weekly programming can’t be so amazing that we have nothing to look forward to at the pay-per-view, but the recent Raw episodes have included a lot of “fast forward” worthy programming.  So here we go, let’s move into our hits, misses for the past two weeks.

Hits:

  • Braun Strowman – most of my hits seem to include Braun and that’s just because he is an over-the-top superstar with a great shtick and a great presence
    • Braun give himself the moniker “monster in the bank”
    • Braun shows off his strength by tossing Finn Balor across the ring into the turn-buckle (at least twice)
    • Braun breaks a ladder in half that Bobby Roode tries to use as a barrier between them
  • Elias – always entertaining and as I’ve said in the past, finally getting a good response from me
    • Giving him a push against Seth Rollins –finally!
  • Big Cass – though him interfering in the Samoa Joe vs. Daniel Bryan match was not popular, it made sense not to have him just fizzle out
    • Good talking on the mic – good way to build heat
  • Samoa Joe – defeating Daniel Bryan to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match and cutting some of the best promos around
  • Asuka – willing to face both Mandy and Sonya and grabbing that microphone away from Carmella with such force
  • Sonya Deville – very impressive to watch against Asuka
  • The announce table with Carmella – I typically do not pay attention, but them ignoring Byron Saxton was quite hilarious
  • Naomi and Uso repping the Texas since day one ish tee- love
    • available from WWE here.
    • but what does it all mean?
  • Shinsuke and AJ signing was pleasantly entertaining

Misses

  • Ronda Rousey/NiaJax – it is still very unclear what the build here is, though this week’s Raw might have shed a little light on it, unless I’m reading it totally wrong
    • Story – Nia wants to point out to Ronda that she is not welcome and will never be one of “them”
  • Nia Jax heel turn? – this is interesting because I thought Nia was going to be the face in their situation
  • Sami Zaynand Bobby Lashley – these two are not building very well. Lashley needs to work on his facial expressions when he’s in the ring and I feel the story is flat.  I love Sami, but look at Bobby Lashley.  Is there really any contest here?
  • Raw Tag Team Division – between the B-Team barbecue last week and this week’s Tag Team Battle Royal for an opportunity to face Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt for the Raw Tag Team Titles at MITB, it seems like the division is being treated as a joke.

Match not to miss: Smackdown Live main event – The Miz, Rusev, and Samoa Joe versus The New Day (June 5, 2018)

So, these weeks again, I put Smackdown Live on top.
