Rematch at the Rumble

Jinder invokes his rematch clause against Jeff Hardy to take place at The Greatest Royal Rumble.

Frienemies?

Bayley and Sasha have a good, very physical match.  We’ve gotten a very slow build-up for these two best frienemies.

Miz TV

The Miz breaks the news that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have made it to Raw, and enjoy an adorable group hug in the ring – this will be huge for Monday Night Raw, but then Kurt has to ruin it.  But just as Kurt thinks he’s gotten one over on the group, Sami pulls out a print-out of an email.  The email is from Stephanie McMahon, reinstating Sami and Kevin!  Fantastic segment, these are the stories we need!  In the end, Kurt lets us know that The Miz is going to Smackdown Live, at the request of Daniel Bryan.

Parting Gifts

Kurt decides to send off The Miz with a 10-Man Tag match – Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman, and Bobby Roode vs. The Miz, Miztourage, Sami and Kevin

Woken Warriors, assemble!

The Revival faces Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy in the final leg of the elimination matches for the #1 contender to face The Bar at the Greatest Royal Rumble.  Bray and Matt are victorious and will be facing The Bar for the Raw Tag Team Titles.

Backstage

The Bar runs into Breezango – who have transferred precincts, now patrolling Raw for fashion violations.  Later, Breezango in action against The Bar and Breezango finally get a win over a very good team.

Rousey’s new Angle

Ronda Rousey – backstage with Kurt, who introduces Natalya – she and Ronda go way back – seeing those two fight at some point in the future would be fantastic – also, Ronda’s talking was good

Next, Nattie fights Mandy Rose – gets her to tap to the sharp shooter – Sonya Deville attacks Nattie from behind, and guess who comes to Nattie’s aid – Ronda Rousey – leg trip punch combo, awesome!

This story presents a fine line – Ronda took Sonya right down and then turned her back on her, almost like Ronda knew there was no way she was coming back from that.  Now, I know you want Ronda to look strong, but she can’t just beat up everyone and not lose.  It could make the other girls seem inferior.

True Samoan

Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe – Roman comes to work but doesn’t get the job done, but Joe will take care of him.

The House

After Shinsuke’s actions last week, which you can read about here, AJ Styles is not having it.  Shinsuke is a dream match killer.  He is maniacal.  And he is finally showing us some personality.  Rusev comes out and attacks AJ, and Daniel Bryan comes to his aid.  Our main event tonight is AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan versus Aiden English and Rusev (Day).  At the end of the match, Shinsuke comes up to AJ on the apron, delivering another low blow from behind and further solidifying his full heel turn.  We also get the return of Cass to the ring, who takes out Daniel Bryan with a big boot.  This will likely setup a nice big man-small man feud.

Swanton Bomb

Shelton Benjamin, now solo, wants some new competition on Smackdown Live.  And, boy, does he get it.  Enter Randy Orton, who quickly gets looked over when Jeff Hardy, the new United States Champion, faces Benjamin instead.  And Jeff doesn’t disappoint.  Twist of fate into a swanton bomb, and Jeff picks up the win.

Yes!/Awwssoome Feud

If it seems like we’ve been waiting for Daniel Bryan to return for years, it seems like we’ve been waiting even longer for the feud between him and The Miz to take off.  And with a nice video package from The Miz and Maryse, his return to Smackdown Live will be awwwwsooome!

So where is Samoa Joe going?

Samoa Joe is on Smackdown Live now, and marks his return with a notice to the locker room: the “land of handouts” is no more.

Mellabration

Carmella is your new Smackdown Live women’s champion, so let’s celebrate.  After all, this is history.  Carmella will forever be the first Women’s Money in the Bank winner and she will always be the first women to successfully cash that contract in.  And Charlotte agrees, it was very Ric Flair like, to take the opportunity while Charlotte was down.  The Iconics (no longer Iconic Duo) make their presence known as well by putting a beat down on Charlotte again.  Only, this time, Becky Lynch has Charlotte’s back.  After a tag match between Charlotte with Becky against The Iconcis, Carmella interferes.  But Becky and Charlotte get some help from a new superstar to Smackdown Live: Asuka!

Can we all agree that the women’s division on Smackdown Live is now stacked?  Let’s get some women’s tag-teams going!
